What is the use of KOT Hold and Fire option in RanceLab® FusionRetail™ 6?


Situation: In your restaurant customer wants the main course served after 30 minutes from the starters been served. And the customers want the food hot. 

Explanation: In a situation like this you will need the KOT Hold option. By using the KOT Hold option we can fix the time of the KOT printing. This way you can serve the customers fresh and hot food at their requested time.

Please follow the steps given below to accomplish the task.

  • Go to Main Menu > Sale Management > Transaction > Sale Invoice (Touch POS) (S > T > T)
  • Click on a Table to open it.
  • Click on some items.
  • Press K (or you can also use the ‘K KOT Status’ button.
  • You are in the KOT Status screen.
  • Use any one of the following methods…
  • Method 1:
    • Click on the items which you want to be served later.
    • Here you can find 12 dedicated buttons to hold the KOT printing for specific times ranging from Hold 5 mts to Hold 60 mts.
    • Click on any of those buttons according to your need it will adjust the time accordingly.
  • Method 2:
    • Click on the items which you want to be served later.
    • If your time requirement is higher than the predefined time delays, then click on Hold Time button.
    • Enter time delay in minute
    • Click ‘Ok’ 
  •  Method 3: 
    • Click on the items which you want to be served later.
    • If you want to add specific clock time instead of time delay, use the ‘Delivery Time’ button.
    • Adjust the Delivery time from the clock on screen.
    • Click OK.
  • Press the Leave button.
  • Press Leave button again in the Order screen.
  • The KOT will be printed at the scheduled time.


  • When you set Preparation Time that means "KOT" will be print just before that particular time.

Example :

  • Suppose you set Hold 10 min and Preparation Time 2 min. then Actual KOT Hold time (10-2)= 8 min. KOT will be print after 8 min.
  • At KOT Status we added a New Column as "Prep Time".
  • This column shows the “Item Preparation Time”, defined at Menu, but Delivery Time and "print/Hold" will be shown as usual.
  • Caution: If you intentionally change Preparation Time in Menu, during a running Transaction, then software will show wrong information.
