What is the reason behind 2 station names in DOS mode barcode setting?

During barcode printer setup I found two places to set station name. It is little bit confusing to me. What is the reason behind this?

Example:

I have two systems Server and POS1, but there is only 1 barcode printer. How to setup barcode printing in DOS mode, which make me able to print barcode through a single printer?

Answer:

Use the following steps…

Step1: Setting in Server

1.       Go to Main Menu > Settings > Application Settings > Station Setup(T>A>S)

2.       Alt + L

3.       Select Server as station name from the list

4.       Go to Barcode Printer option

5.       Press Ctrl + N

6.       Enter a printer name

7.       In Station field select POS1 name

8.       In Port field select port name, in which the barcode printer is attached.

9.       In File field select the barcode printing file.

10.   Save

11.   Select the newly created barcode printer in Printer Name field

12.   Save

 

Step2: Setting in POS1

1.       Go to Main Menu > Settings > Application Settings > Station Setup(T>A>S)

2.       Alt + L

3.       Select POS1 as station name from the list

4.       Go to Barcode Printer option

5.       Press Ctrl + N

6.       Select the printer from the list

7.       In Station field select SERVER name

8.       In Port field select port name, in which the barcode printer is attached.

9.       In File field select the barcode printing file.

10.   Save

11.   Select the newly created barcode printer in Printer Name field

12.   Save

  • Save
  • Select the newly created barcode printer in Printer Name field
  • Save

Step2: Setting in POS1

  • Go to Main Menu > Settings > Application Settings > Station Setup(T>A>S)
  • Alt + L (Open list)
  • Select POS1 as station name from the list
  • Go to Barcode Printer option
  • Press Ctrl + N (to create new)
  • Select the printer from the list
  • In Station field select SERVER name
  • In Port field select port name, in which the barcode printer is attached.
  • In File field select the barcode printing file.
  • Save
  • Select the newly created barcode printer in Printer Name field
  • Save
