Scenario: One of our customers is opening a new store and needs to install FusionRetail6. Two locations will work stand alone (no multi-location). They want to use the same items and menu for the new store also. Please let us know how we can use/prepare the database from the existing location for this new location. Since the menu, items and all other configurations are same there is no need to prepare it from scratch. I would request a step by step procedure to accomplish this.
Answer: Generally there is no option to create a duplicate data from an existing/running data. Although you can copy masters and import them directly to a new blank database. Please use the following steps,
Step1: Getting the masters from the old system
- Go to Main Menu > Master Data Management > Inventory > Product Management(M > I > P)
- Press Alt + D to open the display screen
- Press ‘Shift + Ctrl + Down arrow’ to select all products
- Press Ctrl + C to copy
- Open a new excel sheet and press Ctrl + V to paste the content
- Remove all unwanted columns from the excel file
- Create master excel file for ‘Accounts’, ‘Customer’ and ‘Recipe’ by following the above mentioned steps.
Step2: Importing masters in new blank database
- Install FusionRetail 6 software in the new system
- Go to Main Menu > Settings > Import & Export > Import Data (T > I> I)
- Import ‘Product’, ‘Accounts’, ‘Customer’ and ‘Recipe’ masters (created in step 1).
Notes:
- Now your new database is ready with same masters as the previous database.
- But every master will have different ID than the previous master, i.e. same customer will have different customer ID in different database.
